BEGINNINGS

Tranmere Rovers Walking Football sessions first began in October 2014. The picture below is from the first ever session along with the article that accompanied it.

Community Team Hold First Walking Football Class

Tranmere Rovers in the Community held their first walking football class at Prenton Park on Wednesday afternoon.
Following the success of the Active Rovers football sessions for over-40s, the community team have added a slower paced version of the game for the over-50s to their timetable.
Studies have shown that as well as all the health benefits, exercise - even slower-paced exercise such as Walking Football - may also improve memory and aid sleep as well as improve strength and balance to help reduce the risk of falls.
Proving increasingly popular in various parts of the country, walking football is a slow-paced version of the game aimed at those who are looking to ease themselves back in after injuries, those who have never played the game before and older people who simply want to enjoy football without the vigorous workout.
Wednesday's five a side game took place in the Recreation Centre at Prenton Park. If you're interested in taking part in future weeks, please call the Community office on 0151 608 2354.

Walking football sessions are now available for both men and women. We are a friendly group with varying abilities and ailments but share an enjoyment for the beautiful game.
