THE PREMIER WALKING FOOTBALL WEBSITE

Walking Football United was set up by Steve Rich to create a shared platform from which to enquire, express, learn, lambast or lament on all aspects of this relatively new, innovative version of football. It will endeavour to provide up to date information on the game's expansion and development, county and FA initiatives in support, input and funding (through the Just Play initiative,) through to individual county news, as well as nation-wide development and associated initiative schemes.

An invaluable, ongoing database on all national venues can be accessed, as well as a chance to voice opinion on any Walking Football related matter on the Back Chat Forum page.

A Walking Football Rules guide can be opened online to peruse, or alternatively be downloaded as a whole document.

In essence, Walking Football United strives to promote and endorse the game, unify the rules and unite the masses.

BEGINNINGS

Tranmere Rovers Walking Football sessions first began in October 2014. The picture below is from the first ever session along with the article that accompanied it.

Community Team Hold First Walking Football Class

Tranmere Rovers in the Community held their first walking football class at Prenton Park on Wednesday afternoon.
Following the success of the Active Rovers football sessions for over-40s, the community team have added a slower paced version of the game for the over-50s to their timetable.
Studies have shown that as well as all the health benefits, exercise - even slower-paced exercise such as Walking Football - may also improve memory and aid sleep as well as improve strength and balance to help reduce the risk of falls.
Proving increasingly popular in various parts of the country, walking football is a slow-paced version of the game aimed at those who are looking to ease themselves back in after injuries, those who have never played the game before and older people who simply want to enjoy football without the vigorous workout.
Wednesday's five a side game took place in the Recreation Centre at Prenton Park. If you're interested in taking part in future weeks, please call the Community office on 0151 608 2354.

Walking football sessions are now available for both men and women. We are a friendly group with varying abilities and ailments but share an enjoyment for the beautiful game.

Introduction

I've started this blog in the hope of keeping people up to date on what is happening at Tranmere Rovers Walking Football. It is also hoped to post views, opinions and information on walking football in general. And also reviews on equipment and suppliers. Your comments and feedback are always welcome as are any articles you care to submit. The views and opinions on this blog are purely personal.
